'Originally established in 1862, St Huberts Vineyard is one of the fabled properties that made Yarra Valley wines famous in the 1800s. Replanted in the 1960s, it's again at the heart of the region's wine story. The welcoming cellar door at the edge of the vineyard has interesting photographs of the estate in its 19th century heyday to reflect on. The labels on the bottles resemble the old originals, but the wines are modern styles and very good across a range of types. There are also rare specials like Roussanne to explore.' The modern St Huberts Vineyard estate is the reincarnation of one of Victoria's most famous and historic vineyard properties. 120 years ago St Huberts Vineyard's wines were the toast of the colony, winning awards internationally, as well as mightily pleasing the grandees back home.
Today's St Huberts Vineyard was one of the properties that launched the Yarra Valley's second golden age in the 1960s, and the wines continue to be good examples of regional styles. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon are the stars here; don't miss them.
